Morning Camp starts at 8:30AM and ends at noon. Given the COVID safety restrictions we will not be offering Pre-Camp Care or Post-Camp Care. Campers will wear masks at all times, maintain social distancing and sanitize hands frequently. They will stay with their cohort on court through the entire camp session.
The camp will be using the two upper tennis courts at the Lafayette Park Recreation Center at 33rd and Quesada Sts., NW. Players will learn to play tennis through shot drills, games and tennis matches appropriate for their skill level. Fitness, strengthening and flexibility will be worked into the tennis activities. Video analysis of campers' strokes will be done to help them know how they are hitting the tennis ball.
PRIMARY CAMP GOALS - to help a player improve their tennis skills during the camp and have FUN while doing it with the other kids.
How will we keep cool in the sizzling Washington heat?
> Campers will need to wear hats and dri-fit clothing to stay cool > Campers should bring a cooler full of cold water and citrus fruit. > We will not be going to the local swimming pools this year to cool off > We will have misting bottles and hoses spraying cold water for cooling
If we can safely attend the Citi Open Tennis Tournament at the end of July we will.
